Process:
The process for this poster was difficult. I went through multiple ideas and created multiple posters before I finally decided on one. I had to go find a pair of eyes that matched the ones from the movie but I couldn't just use a pair from online because of copyright reasons, I had to use it as an outline to make my own. After I made the eyes I went back and forth between having a ballerina between the swan eyes, I just couldn't find a way to make it look like a contemporary movie poster so I decided against it. I also changed the title around a lot, it was at the top, and at the bottom, I used different fonts, and customized them all until I decided on one. But it needed more so I added the feather underneath. Once it was complete, I turned down the opacity on the eyes and the title to match the feather a little better.
Commentary:
I really liked the project, and also the idea of not just a regular movie poster, but a contemporatry one, following the styles of Saul Bass. Who never used many colors, everything was very simplistic and easy to look at. The hardest thing for me was to keep things simple, I had 3 colors (Black, white and red) but my ideas kept getting big and difficult so I often had to tell myself to think simpler. Another hard thing for me was finalizing. Once you think you're done, you see something wrong with your work, or you get a better idea and it just takes longer than you think it will and that's not necessarily a bad thing it's just hard to keep changing your ideas and wondering if you should have kept with your old ones or if your new ones look better.
