Working with Type

Commentary:

Learning how to customize my own font was actually pretty easy and very helpful. It can help in many situations because you can bend and shape the letters anyway you would like to recreate them. I recreated my name using the font "Poppyseed" and although it might look completely normal, I actually redid a lot. It was  fun, easy, simple process that I can apply to future projects!

Ally Harper's Top Ten

Process:

The process was actually kind of complicated but our teacher simplified it for us by helping us create a time management timeline. After we had an idea of how long everything would take we started sketching a layout design. Mine actually turned out nothing like my original layout. After learning how to use InDesign, I started setting up a layout and I started thinking how much cooler it would look if it was slanted, so I tried it and it worked out! I came into some major issues, inevitable of course with my first time using Id. I didn't know how to make everything the same space away from each other, how to set paragraph styles and lots of other things that threw my schedule way off. After getting all my pictures in, I had to find good fonts that matched well with each other while also contrasting each other. I added some fun daisy borders around to fill some white space and tie the whole thing in.

Commentary:

I really liked this project, it was one of my favorites by far. I thought I worked well with the time I had even with the set backs. My teacher often helped set me on the right track when I needed help and I am thankful to have someone steering me in the right direction. Graphic design is something I could see in my future and I'm grateful I'm in such a great program. I feel I develop so much with every project we do, especially this one and I can't wait to keep learning and growing and developing into a better designer.

Believe:Final

This semester, I have learned a lot in my A/V class. Exploring new things about the cameras, shot and angles, learning how to use final cut pro, everything! It's been a great experience and I had a lot of fun over the past couple months. It was hard being on a schedule because sometimes I wouldn't finish in time but it taught me a lot about time management. Everything I learned in this class, weather I liked it or not, has helped me.

Postcards

To the left is my clipping mask. I did pictures of dancers because I love to dance and you can see the control and how strong they are in the pictures, and I want to be that strong. It was hard to find pictures that fit into my name but I think I made it work! This was a fun project and I loved finding pictures that I thought represented me well!
To the right is the beautiful streets of New York with my logo in front of it. This project took a lot longer than it should have because I had to move my signature around a lot. And I made things different colors and I worked with pixels a lot! I had to switch between Ai and Ps a lot since my logo was made in Ai. This was a little harder than it looked but it looks nice so it was worth it :-)

My Postcard of Paris (to the left) was one of the hardest because I had a lot of layers and I had to keep changing things and it took awhile to pull everything together to make it look nice but after everything is finished, I'm very proud of my work!

Athletes Approach At Building Legos

This project was about backpack journalism so I recorded Elijah as he put together a lego set. Along the way, I asked him a few questions to try to figure out why he was struggling so much. It was hard to try to put a story together, especially when I asked so many questions and we had a time limit on the video but I think I made it work out pretty well. I had a lot of fun shooting and editing this video. For next time I will need to work on my J & L edits and also there is a jump cut at the end that I did not fix, also a couple of my shots and angles weren't correct. All in all though, the process was pretty easy, I just had to follow Elijah around, ask good questions, make sure my shots were stable and then edit and do voiceovers! Although I was gone for about 10 days being in New York and also being sick, I managed to finish this video and I started on a video about the Olathe Northwest Blood Drive but it was no where near ready to be posted so I considered it just extra practice. :)

Shadows

This is my shadows project. I used a fairy and duplicated her, transformed it and used a gradient. Then I put a background behind it! It was a really easy process!
